“Self Reflection” (2019) — Social Distancing

Faris Buehbossa

Last year, I had a sudden burst of ideas to create a video about an abstract connection between me, my experiences and bubbles.

I recorded all footage in 8 hours at KongsiKL warehouse, using my old Canon EOS M camera with the cheapo Yongnuo 50mm F/1.8 lens, mounted on a 10 year old broken tripod.

The warehouse at Old Klang Road is spacey, was once a metal factory. The lighting, ambiance and atmosphere made it a perfect place to make it a setting for this video. Just as I pictured it in my mind.

It took me 2 days to compose the music on GarageBand, Synth One and Audacity; and 4 days to edit the video with Adobe After Effects with that basic knowledge I learned during the workshop I attended in September 2019 at RGBA Studio.

And then comes 2020. Covid-19. Movement Control Order. Social Distancing.

Eerily, the video relates too well with the current world situation, at least in my perspective.

I hope everyone’s safe.
